Worthy of Our Best

During the hardest time, I need this belief more than anything.

Seth: We live in a time in which we are called upon to serve in ways we didn't anticipate. None of us is perfect. But we do our best because this House is worthy of our best. We trust  instincts as we fight our daily fights. Some we'll win. Some we won't. And some we'll only know in time. But we leave each night hopeful that today's sacrifice have been worth it, that our instincts have not led us astray, and that our best has been good enough.

Living in Truth

Living in Truth，活在真誠中。

這是捷克前總統兼劇作家哈維爾（Václav Havel）在《The Power of the Powerless》說的。

在極權體制下，沒有人是無辜的，大家都是共謀，因為我們會講出無傷大雅的謊話，變相維護了體制。正因我們習慣長年累月活在謊言之中，所以要有意識去選擇「活在真誠中」。

對於體制，只要任何平凡人表現真誠，就能成為對政權的威脅。

平凡的無權者，就是要時刻檢討，是否每一刻都能面對真實、面對自己，不向自己說謊，不向他人說謊。

引用哈維爾的貫穿全書的比喻︰一個雜貨店老闆，聽命掛起「全世界工人團結起來」的標語，他自己也許從不認同，也從無細心思考，總之人云亦云，避免麻煩，不加思索就把標語掛在店內；這種行為，鞏固了體制的合理性，成為幫兇。但當有一天，雜貨店老闆把他自己都不相信的標語除下，就叫「living in truth」。當人們都揭破虛妄，就是改變的力量。

Dignity comes not from victory but from the nobility of faith and the integrity of a person.

Don't Give Birth to Me

Don't give birth to me. If possible, don't get married.

I have no choice this life, so I will fulfill all my duties and settle all debts this life.

But please, don't do this again to me in your next life. I do not want to be related to you in ANY way in the next life.
